Week 4 - Nutrition

Week 4 brings the topic of nutrition!

Isn't nutrition just eating fruits and veggies?
Absolutely not, nutrition is about how you fuel your body in every way. Yes it is important to eat fruits and veggies, but it is equally as important to get protein, carbs, fats, and ESPECIALLY water.

Vegan, keto, carnivore...What is the best diet?
No diet is "best", everyone's body processes food a little differently and your lifestyle heavily influences what types of foods you should be eating. The best diet is the one that makes you feel good in your heart and body and one that you can sustain forever.

What is a well-balanced diet?
The recommended amount of each macronutrient (protein, carbs, and fats) is:
Carbohydrates: 45-65% of your daily calories
Protein: 10-35% of your daily calories
Fat: 20-35% of your daily calories

If you're not someone who tracks calories, the most important recommendation is protein: 0.8 grams of protein for every kilogram you weigh. If you weigh 100 lbs, eat at least 80 grams of protein everyday. Here's a pound to kilogram calculator.

Along with eating a well-rounded diet, make sure you are drinking enough water too! The recommendation for water intake is to find 1/2 of your body weight (in lbs) then drink that many ounces of water per day. If you weigh 100 lbs -> drink at least 50 oz of water per day
